Let me state right up front that I LOVE Freecylcle. I’ve used it for years and have given away everything from a futon to baby clothes. A refrigerator, a TV and a whole lot of books. It’s a blessing and a brilliant service. I’ve also been on the receiving end of Freecycle, including some things that could definitely have been sold on Craigslist (or elsewhere) but were given away by their owners instead. So, to all Freecyclers out there, know that I’m one of you.
That said, we’ve all seen things on Freecycle and said to ourselves, “Really? Isn’t that what landfills are for?” Because sometimes it seems that people are just afraid to throw stuff away, and for that there’s FailCycle.
All submissions are kept anonymous, the site is meant for a laugh, it’s not meant to embarass anyone. Not only do we not include names, but we don’t include locations either. If something you shared on Freecycle found its way onto our site and it’s causing you distress, please email us at remove at failcycle dot com and we’d be happy to take down the posting.
And if you come across the occasional dead watch battery, unmatched shoe or key to nothing, pass it along to us at submit at failcycle dot com.
Thanks, and Happy Freecycling!
